Crafty Kids in Central Portland

We’re having a crafty summer. There’s really no other way to describe it. We’ve been sewing, painting, raiding the recycling bins to make marble tracks. Making strawberry tarts and home made pasta. Lots of working with our hands. Lots of messes in the house. Which prompted me to look online to see what options there were to mess up other people’s spaces. Bathroom tiles, reading glasses, forgotten buildings -- when crossed with the couple's lofty ambitions -- become sudden sales sensations. Chances are their latest scheme -- a line of dog collars and leashes just for rescued mutts -- will meet the same success.
Yet, after 39 years of marriage, the couple known for the tile company that still bears Ann Sacks' name is going through a transition. After five years of sharing cramped quarters on Northwest 23rd Avenue, the couple recently moved into a 21,000-square-foot building downtown. Now, they can no longer just shout to hear each another.
