What's the Portland Community Looking to Learn?
by TeachStreet
Since we first came to Portland in August of this year, its been exciting to watch our community of teachers and learners on TeachStreet grow. There's a huge range of subjects in Portland to learn from, whether you're looking for fire dancing with the Flamebuoyant Productions or CPR training with Larry Meres -- we should have it.
Here's a quick peek into what Portland is looking to learn (based on most popular search terms on TeachStreet):
Top 5 Searched Subjects on TeachStreet.com (Portland, OR)
- Guitar
Spotlight: Want to learn how to strum a guitar? Visit Christopher Woitach (Montavilla) or Tim Mackey (Far Southwest) for guitar classes ranging from banjo to electric guitar. - Knitting
Spotlight: Take a look at Portland Sewing (Alameda) or Wool is my Game (Buckman) for all your sewing and knitting needs. Check them out to either work on your next homemade bag or just learning how to alter your clothes. - Yoga
Spotlight: Shocking surprise right? The yoga community has taken Portland by storm, and the dozens of great instructors out there like: Sharon Hanson (Downtown), Janis Desmond (Alameda), and Jocelyn Brown (Kerns). With everything from Yoga Fusion to Prenatal Yoga, there should be something for just about every yogi. - Piano
Spotlight: If you want to learn the difference between tickling the ivories on keyboards and grand pianos, check out instructors: Susan Peck (South Tabor) or Ryan Hofrichter (Hosford). - Dance
Spotlight: Learn to get your groove on at the Stites Performing Arts Center (Hosford) through ballet or hip hop dancing. You can also learn some cultural dance with Natya Leela Academy (Wilkes).
It's always interesting to see what communities are looking to learn, so if you want your talents or your trials as a student of something new to be featured, please don't hesitate to let us know. Happy learning!
