City Council will Take Action on Ordinances regarding ALTERNATIVES TO CELL TOWERS

by Trace
Event Date: 11/26/2008 12:00 AM
Event Location: Council Chambers, City Hall, 1221 SW 4th Ave
On Wednesday, November 26, 2008, city staff will be going to Council with the final proposed amendments regarding the manner in which wireless companies may place antennae on utility poles, and replace utility poles with taller ones for wireless purposes. The proposed amendments are designed to balance the need to retain neighborhood character and livability with the expanding need to provide wireless services in neighborhoods. They were developed over the course of two years. Staff conducted three public forums in March, 2008, followed by an online survey in April-May, 2008 (that was responded to by over 900 people, and over 350 individual comments were also received), followed by a citywide public meeting in October, 2008. Even then, staff proposes to reduce the allowed pole rep

2008 Holiday Ale Festival

by pearlgirl
Event Date: 12/03/2008 03:00 PM
Event Location: Pioneer Courthouse Square, 701 SW Sixth Ave
2008HAFPoster The only beer festival in the Northwest to be held outdoors in the dark, cold and often wet month of December, the Holiday Ale Festival is truly distinctive. Despite chilly temperatures and often-inclement weather outside, attendees stay warm and dry under a large clear topped tent that covers the venue. Gas heaters create a cozy ambience under the boughs of one of the region's largest decorated Christmas trees. Thirty six + potent winter ales are featured at the event, all of which are created specifically to bring warmth and cheer to the holiday season. The beers are rich, robust and full of complex flavors. They range from Imperial IPAs, Belgians and Barley Wines to Winter Warmers, Scotch Ales and Stouts. Many have been seasoned with spices, and enhanced with dry hopping or extended aging in barrels. Dates: December 3rd thru December 7th, 2008 Hours: Wednesday, 3–9 pm Thursday, 11 am–10:30 pm
Friday, 11 am–10:30 pm
