From PNCA...
pdXPLORE is an interactive multi-media exhibit and symposia exploring Portland’s future. Are we ready for the changes coming to Portland in this new century? What shape will our city take over the next 50 or 100 years? What is essential about Portland? What do Portlanders believe in, and what is our DNA? What are the fundamental urban patterns and design principles at work here?
All events are at PNCA, 1241 NW Johnson. Free and open to the public.
Exhibition: July 8 – 27
What are our hopes and dreams? How can we build our city to realize them? Five designers, architects, urban designers and landscape architects have been working for over a year to probe these questions. Co-sponsored by PNCA and Elizabeth Leach Gallery.
Panel Discussion: July 8 | 6pm
The five designers and architects who created pdXPLORE speak about their work. Panelists include: Rudy Barton, Carol Mayer-Reed, Michael McCulloch, Richard Potestio and William Tripp.
PNCA+FIVE Idea Studio – In The Round: Collective Leadership: July 22 | 6pm
A PNCA+ Five Idea Studio with Portland Mayor Elect Sam Adams, leading elected officials and city planners address the challenges facing Portland and their vision for the future. Join some of the region’s most engaging leaders as they take a creative look at Portland’s urban landscape and ask how our unique history can inform the future. The discussion is a continuation of the dialogues that began with five designers and resulted the pdXPLORE, the interactive multi-media exhibiton on display in PNCA’s Swigert Commons.
Panelists: Sam Adams, City Council Member and Mayor Elect of Portland; David Bragdon, President of Metro; Tom Hughes, Mayor of Hillsboro; Gil Kelly, Director of Planning Bureau, City of Portland; Robert Liberty, Metro Councilor; Alice Rouyere, Executive Manager for the City of Gresham; moderated by Thom Watters.
Special thanks to Elizabeth Leach, Rudy Barton, Carol Mayer-Reed, Michael McCulloch, Richard Potestio and William Tripp.
