by pearlgirl

Labor Day Weekend
Sat & Sun: 11AM-6PM

The Lab @ Museum of Contemporary Craft
724 Northwest Davis Street on the North Park Blocks
A program of Art in the Pearl

Collaborative Exhibition:
In 2007 the sixth annual Collaborative Artists show will be displayed at The Museum of Contemporary Craft in association with Art In The Pearl. The goal of these collaborations is to get artists to explore new things, perhaps work in a different media or look at their work from another artist's point of view. Curated by Greg Wilbur, artists are asked to stimulate their creative energy by making work together. Fifty percent of sales from this project go to Sisters of the Road Café, a Northwest Portland Café that serves meals to people regardless of their ability to pay and also is a safe and pleasant place for people to spend time. Click here for a complete list of artists involved in this Collaborative Ar

Let your cupboards go bare

by pearlgirl
Save up your grocery shopping until September 12!

Portland’s Whole Foods Market , the world’s leading retailer of natural and organic foods and America’s first national certified organic grocer, has selected DoveLewis as the beneficiary of its upcoming Community Support Day. On Wednesday, September 12 the Pearl District store will donate 5% of the day’s net sales to the organization.

In June, the Whole Foods at Bridgeport Village raised just over $2,500 for us – help us beat it!

The Pearl District’s Whole Foods Market is located at 1210 NW Couch St. Parking is plentiful and the store is open from 8:00AM to 10:00PM.

A tasty treat for newsletter subscribers

by pearlgirl

As some of you may recall, Neighborhood Notes was originally an email newsletter. Over the past four years, I collected a really large database of your email addresses. Unfortunately, there was some work done on our server and it completely erased our records.

Rather than be glum about it, I've decided to look at this as an opportunity to update. Neighborhood Notes will be sending out an e-newsletter in the very near future, so if you would like to receive it, please sign up for it in the box to the right. I apologize for the inconvenience of having to do this again. In order to make signing up a little less painful, my friends at Cupcake Jones have whipped up a tasty little treat for our subscribers and RE-subscribers.

Thank you!

Lawsuit at Marshall Wells Lofts

by pearlgirl

We've all watched Marshall Wells Lofts with great interest over the past year. The entire south side was a maze of scaffolding covered by a giant tarp. All of the units on that side of the building went without natural light the better part of the year--not to mention the noise of the work and presence of the workers right outside their windows. We've all heard the rumors of the cost associated with the repairs and a variety of rumors about what went wrong and who is responsible.

An article in Willamette Week describes the issue faced by the owners and also confirms legal action being taken by residents. You might assume this action is against the developer, but it is actually against the contractor that gave the building a clean bill of health.

I have friends that live in Marshall Wells and I know the events of the past year has impacted their quality of life dramatically. There is a diverse mix of income levels within the building and the spe
