What is Furnish up to now?
by shooterSo aside from the "Last Days" signs (we should be so lucky) and the retail space being for sale, has Furnish changed its name to "Inside"? If the new signs are any indication it has. A search of the Oregon business registry shows Inside was registered in June of 2006 with the owner of Furnish PDX listed as the registered agent and Inside, Inc. listed as the registrant. Looking at the registry for Inside, Inc. only shows the registered agent (Incorp Services) but not the registrant. The registrant is typically the owner, the registered agent is simply someone physically residing in the state. I believe Incorp Services is in business to provide registered agent services.
Rumor has it that the owner of Furnish also owns the retail space in which it resides. He's listed as the Secretary for the City Lofts Condominium Association, and its the City Lofts building where Furnish/Inside is located. Having lost the Roche Bobois franchise long ago, and more recently los

New Services at Kanani Pearl
by pearlgirl
ELEGANT NEW BODY SERVICES
I sample products all the time and, rarely, VERY RARELY, do I find anything of better quality than what we offer at Kanani Pearl.
I am very excited to tell you about two fantastic products that I've discovered. One is ISLAND ESPRESSO MUD that we have added to our Body Polish line. It is from Naturopathica whose focus is on maintaining vibrant and radiant skin and optimal health through natural therapies.
From the Hualalai/Four Seasons on the Big Island, I found the formulator for their MACADAMIA NUT BODY SCRUB. A small lab on Oahu makes this elegant product that meets the standards of the Four Seasons.
With Aloha, Mary Ellen
Island Espresso Mud Body Polish
Luscious, indigenous ingredients include:
Indian Tobacco-prized for its properties to draw impurities
Honey Extract-a natural humectant
Black Silt Clay-a rich mineral clay for regenerating and drawing properties
Shea Butt

Portland has nation's second biggest bump in home prices
by pearlgirl
Home prices in Portland jumped by almost 9 percent from January 2006 to January 2007, the second biggest jump registered among 20 cities in 2006, according to a Standard & Poor's report.
Portland's 8.7 percent hike -- second to Seattle's 11.1 percent increase -- is not typical, compared with what is happening in other parts of the country.

Get Bent...O
by shooterWe now have a name for the restaurant going into what used to be MS Glass at the corner of Glisan and 14th, Get Bento. I don't know an opening date, but construction is moving along and it will be fun to see how the restaurant takes shape in the old gas station. Let's hope they keep the cool exterior. Can't wait to give it a try!

Acai Addicts Anonymous
by pearlgirl
That's right. If you haven't tried the Acai Bowl at sip and kranz -- don't start -- it's highly addictive. It's a highly nutritious berry blended with banana, apple juice and honey which achieves a yogurt-like consistency. It's served with granola and sliced banana. Yum.
Whole Foods Market sells acai, if you'd like to take your addiction to the privacy of your own home. :-D

Move Over Iron Chefs... The Dueling Sommeliers Battle at the Heathman Restaurant and Bar
by pearlgirl
Food competitions are routine events, but now the Heathman Restaurant and Bar moves the action into the world of wine. The first Dueling Sommelier Dinner Series features four of Portland’s best sommeliers, including Ken Collura from Andina, Erica Landon from ten 01, Jamie Garrett from Bluehour and Jeff Groh from the Heathman Restaurant and Bar. The dinner series debuts on April 13, 2007 and will continue with four additional dinners and the grand finale dinner where two sommeliers duke it out for the top honor. The four-course menu prepared by Chef Philippe Boulot will be paired with 4 different wines per course representing wine selections from each of the sommeliers. Dinner guests will vote on how each of the mystery wines pair with each food course and the votes will be tallied throughout the remaining dinners. The top scoring sommeliers after the first four dinners will battle it out in October’s Grand Finale Dinner. The April dinner is $125 per person, including a 4-course menu an
