A Look into the Process of Creativity Stirs Excitement
by the nice brian
Inner Journeys: The Magic of Spontaneous Expression opened on First Thursday, November 6th at Anka Gallery Unlike other gallery exhibits, the paintings in this exhibit were never intended to be viewed. Rather, they are visual expressions of inner creative journeys contributed by the students and teacher of artspace, an experiential painting studio in S.E. Portland. The Paintings highlight spontaneous expression in a journey of discovery and exploration. These paintings provide a window into the process of creativity, deepening our understanding of flow, and of the impediments encountered. The First Thursday exhibit was an "amazing" success. Most people who came through...and there were many...really understood the heart ofthis exhibit and enjoyed talking about the process of creativity in their own lives. It stimulated conversations about the nature of creativity and art. "This is amazing. I've never seen something like this in a Gallery before", exclaim

Portland Art Museum Shows Integrity
by TeachStreet
Portlanders should be proud to know that the Portland Art Museum has demonstrated its high level of integrity and transparency in regard to the art pieces that it acquires. In September the museum acquired a sculpture of Ganesha Stele that had little historical art record to track its origins with. It is not the kind of art piece you can design after taking a class or two in sculpting, so the museum is not worried about an impostor taking claim. The museum director, Brian Ferriso, said "this is all about transparency". Brian Ferriso is a member of the Association of Art Museum Directors ("AAMD") that was developed as an oversight committee for controversial matters just like these. Photo: AAMD
The purpose of the AAMD, as stated on their website, is to support its members in increasing the contribution of art museums to society.

Current Exhibit Daniel Long I Heard It Through the Grapevine October 1–November 1, 2008 Fontanelle Gallery is pleased to present Daniel Long's first solo exhibition in Portland, OR, I Heard It Through The Grapevine.
This show consists of drawings and mixed media collages. I Heard It Through The Grapevine is a response to everyday thoughts and encounters. Daniel uses these colorful cutouts upon a paper stage to theatrically recreate the ongoing dialogue in his mind. Viewers need not know exactly what these montages reference, but are invited to superimpose their own experiences and narratives onto

Street Songs in Old Town Chinatown
by the nice brian
I love music. This cart was left unattended for a good while yesterday. The owner managed to plug in his stereo set to some outlet and play the radio for many of us to enjoy. It was audible from about two blocks away.
