The daily news is pretty bleak these days, but yesterday we found four Portland-related articles that gave our spirits a lift: There are two new restaurants—one in Sellwood-Moreland and the other in NW District—whose value-priced menus are getting good reviews. Beaumont Middle School offers a unique mentorship program that pairs community members with struggling students—with fantastic results! The "crown jewel" of the Portland skateboard park system is planned for Old Town Chinatown. Yesterday, the City issued a request for proposal for a skateboard park builder and designer. The Community Cycling Center is launching a new project in 2009 to reach underserved communities in North and Northeast Portland. It's great to see new development, new businesses and new community service projects in Portland neighborhoods, don't you think? Read all about it in the links below.
