Youth Action Grants for up to $2,000 available through the City of Portland

A pool of $10,000 is available for community-based projects initiated, designed, and run by youth 21 and under. The Youth Action Grants Program will provide grants of up to $2,000 to youth or youth groups who want to take action that makes Our Bill of Rights: Children + Youth and Portland's community vision a reality. Metro Launches 2009 Grant Cycle; Offers Free Grant-Writing Workshops

Metro has three grant programs to support innovative solutions that help solve neighborhood problems and improve the quality of life for residents. The programs - Metro Central Enhancement Grants, Nature in Neighborhoods Restoration Grants and Nature in Neighborhoods Capital Grants - will distribute funds in 2009. The Nature in Neighborhoods Capital Grants program funds projects that preserve or enhance natural features and their ecological functions on public lands in neighborhoods, and help ensure that every community enjoys clean water and nature as an element of its character and livability. Do you want to build relationships with schools, community organizations or neighborhood associations in NE Portland?

If so, get creative and apply for this year's Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods Small Grant Program !

Thanks to the City of Portland and the Mayor's Office, we have small grants of $250-$5000 available for projects that build community by attracting new and diverse members while sustaining those already involved. The deadline is 2:00 pm on Monday, November 3rd. Application here .

Nature in Neighborhoods Capital Grants

nin_grant_conservationcorner The Portland metropolitan area is expanding. This growth increases pressure on water quality and fish and wildlife habitat. How can our region achieve a balance between development and conservation? What are the best ways to improve ecological functions within our growing urban areas? How can existing neighborhoods increase the presence of nature? The Metro Council is seeking creative answers to these questions through the Nature in Neighborhoods capital grants program. The first three projects were awarded funding by the Metro Council in August 2008. Who Can Apply Neighborhoods and community groups, nonprofit organizations, schools, cities, counties and public park providers are invited to apply. Project Eligibility Projects must either purchase land or make improvements to real property that result in a capital asset with a life of at least 20 years and with a total value of at least $50,000. Grant from Kaiser Permanente Community Fund Puts Local Food on the Menu in Portland Public School and Gervais School Districts

zoe2 The first school assembly of the new academic year will take place today at 10 a.m., at Atkinson Elementary in South East Portland, where school food and education leaders will gather alongside farmers, food producers, grocery retailers and government officials to cheer a grant from the Kaiser Permanente Community Fund at the Northwest Health Foundation that will subsidize approximately 2,640,000 meals with the funds needed to serve more Oregon grown and processed foods in Portland Public Schools and Gervais School Districts. The grant, secured by Ecotrust’s Food and Farms program , will bolster existing efforts to bring more regionally produced food into two distinct school districts in the immediate school year, and kick-off a six-month study to measure the impact of nourishing the minds and bodies of young school children with fresh seasonal produce and locally processed foods, while directing dollars spent to feed Oregon students back into the local economy.  A

46facabf-0003d-0554d-400cb8e1 Applications being accepted for Portland Neighborhood Small Grants through seven District Coalition offices The City of Portland, Office of Neighborhood Involvement and seven District Coalitions announce the third year of the Neighborhood Small Grants Program with $187,557 available to neighborhood and community-based organizations. Grants are awarded on a competitive basis through the seven neighborhood District Coalitions.
