Pie Footwear hosts Alberta Street Fair Shoe Donation & Recycling Drive
by pearlgirl
From our friends at Pie Footwear...
There are an estimated 1.5 billion pairs of shoes in American homes that are destined for our landfills instead of being put to use the way they were intended: on people's feet. Pie Footwear in partnership with Albina Community Bank, Teva Footwear, The Waterkeeper Alliance, Soles4Souls and The Alberta Street Fair will host a Shoe Donation & Recycling Drive during the 11th annual Alberta Street Fair on Saturday, September 13th. Shoes collected will be donated to Soles4Souls and distributed on a national and international level to people in need. Soles4Souls participated in donating over 1 million pairs of shoes to help aid the relief efforts for the Asian Tsunami and the Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
For each shoe collected, Teva will donate $1 to The Waterkeeper Alliance. The Waterkeeper Alliance is a grassroots advocacy organization with 177 local Waterkeeper programs and growing. They are dedicated to preserving and protecting your water from polluters.
Shoes will be collected in front of Pie Footwear on 29th & Alberta the day of the fair. Shoes can also be dropped off prior to the event at Albina Community Bank's MLK Branch or at Pie Footwear.
Join us and clean out your closet for a good cause and drop off your old shoes at the Alberta Street Fair Shoe Donation & Recycling Drive hosted by Pie Footwear. Event will include Teva in store product promotions at Pie Footwear and a Teva product give away raffle.
