Choose Local and Save » Fit Right Northwest

by pearlgirl

In 2009, spending judiciously has become a priority for most of us. Fortunately, Portland business Mapclicks has devised a wonderful way to support local businesses and save money at the same time. It's called the Choose Local Card Program. Very Portland. The Choose Local Card is free and offers many features and benefits that make a difference to our local economy. Nearly 150 local businesses offer Choose Local Card deals that will save you money—use it to shop, dine and unwind. In an effort to familiarize you with the program—and the breadth of local businesses that participate—we're going to feature one of these business every couple of weeks.

Choose Local and Save at Fit Right Northwest

Nestled in a cozy location on popular NW 23rd Avenue, Fit Right Northwest is a destination for Portland runners and walkers alike. The store is owned and operated by one of its original co-founders, David Sobolik, and employee-turned-owner, Robb Finegan. Talk about living the dream, right?

Whether you're a beginner or a hardcore athlete, Fit Right Northwest has products and services geared to your needs—all served up in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.  Be sure to ask them about their work with local high/middle school running programs, special community events and their efforts on behalf of Forest Park Conservancy. What you'll find at Fit Right Northwest...

Running & Walking Footwear

It's important that you begin your running/walking program on the, um, right foot. At Fit Right Northwest, customers are offered a complimentary video-taped gait analysis that determines your level of over or under pronation. (Pronation is the inward (medial) roll of the foot and in particular the heel and arch which occurs naturally at the heel strike as a cushioning mechanism. Overpronation is when the feet roll inward too much. Supination, also known as underpronation, is the opposite to pronation where the feet don't roll inward enough.) It's important to choose the right shoe, because wearing a shoe that doesn't provide the stability you require can lead to painful shins, joints or even injury.
