Neighborhood Notes

The 38th annual Portland Marathon will be run on Sunday October 5th, 2008 beginning at 7 AM. Traffic will be impacted throughout the day, and in some cases, certain major thoroughfares will be closed from 6:30AM to 3:00PM or later. Times are approximate and may vary by 15 to 30 minutes.

SW Naito Parkway, SW Salmon, SW Broadway, NW Davis, SW 3rd, SW 4th, NW Raleigh, NW Thurman, NW Wardway, NW St. Helens Road, N Willamette Blvd, N Greeley and N Interstate, NW Lovejoy, NW 9th are all impacted by the race to a significant degree throughout the day and should be avoided. The Broadway Bridge is CLOSED to westbound traffic from 10:00am to Noon, and the Morrison Bridge is CLOSED to westbound traffic between 6-8:45am. The Burnside Bridge is CLOSED to westbound traffic between 6:30-9:00am. The St. Johns Bridge will have one lane open to traffic in each direction. The Marathon Course route is closed to all unauthorized vehicular and bicycle traffic. There are no exceptions.

WESTSIDE DOWNTOWN CORE AREA: CLOSED FROM 6 AM TO 3PM- AVOID THIS AREA

• SW 4th Ave. from SW Columbia to SW Taylor

• SW 3rd Ave. from SW Columbia to SW Taylor

• SW Main & SW Madison from SW 3rd to SW 5th

• SW Salmon from Naito to SW 5th

BRIDGES

• St. Johns: Bridge Ave. (South side of bridge) from Hwy 30 to the bridge CLOSED to ALL vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian traffic from 7am-1:30pm. One lane each direction on the bridge will remain OPEN to traffic. Bridge access will be from North side Germantown Rd ramp.

• Broadway: W/B lanes CLOSED except for Trimet. 10:00am-Noon. Lovejoy Ramp westbound to NW 9th CLOSED 6:30am-3:00pm

• Morrison: W/B lanes CLOSED 6-8:45am (Except for Tri-Met Buses)

• Burnside: W/B lanes CLOSED 6:30-9:00am (Except for Tri-Met Buses)

FREEWAY RAMPS

• I-5 S/B City Center exit to Morrison Bridge- CLOSED 6 AM-8:45am

• I-405 N/B exit to SW 4th Ave- CLOSED 6AM until at least 10 AM

DOWNTOWN

• SW Salmon (Naito to Broadway) CLOSED from 6am-10am

• SW Broadway (Salmon to NW Davis) CLOSED from 6am-9am

• NW Davis (Broadway to Naito) CLOSED from 6am-10am

• SW Naito: CLOSED from SW Barbur to NW Kittridge 6am-11am

• N/B lanes from NW Davis to NW 9th CLOSED until 3pm

• S/B lanes from NW Davis to SW Salmon CLOSED until 3pm

NORTHWEST

• NW Raleigh, Thurman and Wardway are CLOSED 6:30-11am

• NW 9th (Lovejoy to Naito) CLOSED 6:30am-3:00pm

EASTSIDE

• N Willamette Blvd: CLOSED 7:30am-1:30pm

• N Greeley: southbound CLOSED from Killingsworth to Interstate 7:30am-2pm

• N Interstate:southbound CLOSED from Greeley to Broadway Br. 7:30am-2:30pm
