Sweet Masterpiece Field Trip - RSVP required

Sweet Masterpiece  has generously organized a Chocolate Shop Tour for kids and the adults who care for them. Curious what a 10 pound block of chocolate looks like? Then this is the tour for you. Children will learn about chocolate making, watch staff as they dip candies, and make their own hot chocolate. And adults, if that's not enough for you, save the date for Sweet Masterpiece's wine and chocolate paring on 12/8. 
Please join us on December 3d from 3:30 - 4:30 at Sweet Masterpiece, located at 922 NW Davis. 
Reservations are necessary for this event. We're trying something new in an attempt to make reservations more fair. We'll collect all reservation requests for 72 hours. If we have more requests than available spots we'll draw names to choose attendees. Everyone who responds will get an email letting them know whether or not they are on the list.

Indoor Active Play - Thursdays at Cami Curtis Performing Arts Center

Indoor Active Play at  Cami Curtis Performing Arts Center   starts at 10:00. At 11:15 we begin to clean up and the event ends at 11:30. Indoor Active Play is for children of all ages and their families. We'll run, play, dance to music and create games.  Please bring $5 cash if this is your first time at Indoor Active Play at Cami Curtis Performing Arts Center. Story Time and Open Play @ Isobel's Clubhouse 12/5

IMG_0411 Join us on 12/5 at 9:30 for Story Time and Open Play.  What will we do?  As part of open play, kids can dress up in costumes, play with toys, listen to music, play games or color with crayons. We'll also read stories, and you're welcome to bring a book to share. What should I bring?   We have fun toys and books, and you're always welcome to bring something to share. And please bring your fun ideas for group songs and games. Details  This event begins at 9:30. Clean up will start at 11:15 and the event will end at 11:30.  Like all events at the Clubhouse, this is a parent/caregiver and child event. A parent or caregiver will need to be with the child at all times.  There is no cost for this event, and donations are gladly accepted. Holiday Steam Up

On Friday, December 5th from 5:30 - 8:00, Amy and Larry are offering visitors to  Staver Locomotive  an opportunity to make a donation to Friendly House, a non-profit social service agency in Northwest Portland. Friendly House serves and supports the neediest in the community through programs for seniors, children and families. Every year they sponsor a Holiday Gift Giving opportunity. If you would like to donate,  Friendly House  is requesting: cash donations, gift cards from Fred Meyer, Ross, Target, or others ($10-25 amounts) and Tri-Met bus tickets. US Wushu Center, Inc. Open House

The U.S. Wushu Center invites you to an Open House on Saturday, December 6th at 5:00.  The open house will include martial arts demonstrations. This is your chance to see great Wushu and Taichi performances by masters from China as well as teachers and students After the performances there will be a holiday party including food (potluck), a DJ, dancing and a drawing for prizes. This is a family-friendly event and is open and free to everyone. Those of you who attend  Indoor Active Play  will recognize the space, as the party will be held in the basketball court that we rent on Mondays and Tuesdays. Master Yu Shaowen is the host. The First Flush - Unveiling the Portland Loo

loo mock drawing The city's first Portland Loo will be unveiled on 12/8/2008, as Commissioner Randy Leonard takes the first flush! The Portland Loo is the brainchild of Commissioner Leonard who saw a growing global problem and sought out a novel, local solution. His philosophy is, "When you gotta go, you gotta go." Commissioner Leonard recognizes that all humans are entitled to a little dignity when taking care of such private business. The Loos are: Lightweight: The unit is composed of a minimal materials. Utilizing stainless steel wall panels mounted to a slim profile structure means that the Portland Loo weighs a fraction of a typical restroom and can be delivered on site as a complete enclosure. Our friends at Umpqua Bank, as part of their commitment to families in central Portland, have offered to host this event in their beautiful lobby after business hours.  Please bring cozy kids (in their pajamas if you'd like) as well as sleeping bags or blankets to cushion the floor. A family friendly G rated movie will begin promptly at 6:30.  If you can come early or stay late to help re-arrange the lobby and do post-party clean up, we'd really appreciate it.
